About us

Our story

For over 30 years, we’ve brought our artistry to the world’s creative industries, including film and television, immersive experiences, game development, consumer products and more. We take on projects of any size, scope or scale, from the earliest stages of creative development to manufacture and delivery anywhere in the world.

From humble beginnings in the back room of their Wellington flat, Richard and Tania have built Wētā Workshop into what it is today. Our 58,000 square-foot facility is home to a passionate, tight-knit team and houses a comprehensive range of departments across different disciplines.

“When I reflect on what Wētā Workshop’s team have grown to become,” says Richard, “it is one of a collective of creative thinkers and doers, all driven by an affinity towards the process and a love of making.”
