For Peter Jackson’s 2005 monster movie King Kong, Wētā Workshop’s design team helped visualise Skull Island and its inhabitants — giant primate included. We conceptualised a richly layered world, from its ecosystems to its evolutional history and wildlife. Along with this design work, our manufacture departments created costumes, weapons, miniatures and special makeup effects to transform performers into the island’s denizens.
