The fourth instalment in the aliens-among-us franchise, Men in Black: International follows Chris Hemsworth’s Agent H and Tessa Thompson’s Agent M as they fight galactic bad guys who threaten humanity’s life on Earth. For this 2019 sci-fi film meets buddy-cop flick, Wētā Workshop’s Design Studio conceptualise weapons, aliens, and gadgets and props including the mind-wiping neuralyzer.

The Men in Black weapons, while following the lineage of the previous movies, were required to not only look like the latest generation but also have a new, art deco-inspired style, one that reflected the film’s new location: the organisation’s London bureau. The alien weapons followed a much more eclectic brief, where quirky was the order of the day. As for the aliens themselves, these ranged from the Terrantian bodyguard Luca Brasi, to Bassam (an alien who disguises himself as a beard, clinging to Nasr’s face) and the Jababian royal family member Vungus.
