If you need transport, you can book one of our guided transfer tours here.
Catching the bus? The number 2 bus stops at stop number 6240 on Darlington Road. From there it's a short stroll to the Wētā Cave. Find out more on the Metlink website.
On arrival
Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour or creative workshop starts.
You can collect your tour tickets at the Wētā Cave ticketing desk. For creative workshops, please come to 129 Park Road.
Accessibility
We are continually improving and enhancing our experiences to ensure we can cater for as wide an audience as possible. This includes visually and hearing-impaired visitors too.
Our tours are wheelchair accessible. We also have disabled bathrooms and disabled on street parking spaces available outside of our tour space on Camperdown Road.

Miramar is located just a 20-minute drive from Wellington city centre and 5 minutes from Wellington Airport.
If you need transport, you can book one of our guided transfer tours here.
Catching the bus? The number 2 Miramar bus stops at stop number 6240 on Darlington Road. From there it's a short stroll 250m to the Wētā Cave. Make sure you don't get the number 2 Seatoun bus, as this would require a 15-minute walk from the Miramar Shops. Find out more on the Metlink website.

VIP Tour
You don't need to be a celebrity to get
the red-carpet treatment. Explore areas under wraps to the public and hold a real Academy Award.
On street parking is free but limited. Please allow ample time to find a car park.
Wētā Workshop is a fully operational workshop, and there are some hazards that make entering our workspace unsafe. Also, because we’re working our movie magic behind the scenes, we’re unable to take you onto the workshop floor itself.
Our tours do give you an exclusive look into the workshop through multiple viewing windows, getting you as close to the magic as possible!
Yes and no! Your guide will let you know when you can use your camera. There are certain rooms of our tour space where photography is permitted, however there are some rooms where we ask for you to not take photographs. Wētā Workshop is an active workshop and photography is strictly prohibited in certain areas due to production requirements.
There’s also the opportunity to receive a free digital photo within the tour space, so you’ll be able to take home a fun memory of your experience with us.
Our tours are currently offered in English and Mandarin
Absolutely—children love the magic of
movies! Though just a heads up–some images on our tour do showcase horror
films.
Our tour space features some drone video footage and walks through some small and dark rooms.
Sorry, we are unable to store your luggage at the Wētā Cave or within our tour space.
